US demand calls for more Evoques!

Red_evoque

It’s no secret that the Range Rover Evoque is popular. As the 2012 North American Truck of the Year, its striking styling and relatively low starting price is proving to be a formula for success, but how much of a success is it?

More than what the company currently builds according to feedback from dealers that can’t keep them on the lot. Jaguar Land Rover North America CEO Andy Goss says the U.S. will be receiving 33 percent more Evoques, bringing the total up to 1,000 per month.

Starting at $43,995 before delivery, the Evoque is the most affordable in the Range Rover line. Land Rover sales were up 21 percent in the first six months of 2012 compared to last year, a trend Goss expects to continue.

Talk of a possible Evoque convertible could serve to further spur sales in Land Rovers favor if it is well received, but soft top SUVs are unusual and can be a tough sell. Nissan’s Murano CrossCabriolet isn’t given a separate section in the company’s sales reports, but the unusual car’s scarcity speaks to how difficult something like that can be to sell.

Tip of the Day: Use AC sparingly to save money on gas

Roll down your car's windows and let in the summer breeze. Using the gas-hogging air conditioning as sparingly as possible will give your car's fuel economy a real boost. Air conditioning can drag down your car's fuel economy by 10 percent to 20 percent.

On days when air conditioning is a must, first try cooling your car the old fashioned way -- rolling down the windows, opening the vents, peeling back the sunroof. You'd be amazed how much hot air you can clear out of your car just by opening up for awhile.

Flipping on the air conditioning full blast as soon as you hop into a hot car is a big waste of gas and money.

Keep in mind, though, that at highway speeds, modern cars are more fuel efficient with the air conditioning on than with the air off and windows down.

The Range Rover Evoque Convertible Concept

To date, the Range Rover Evoque has been honored with over ninety international awards. This global success has spawned a new concept with an interesting twist: a premium convertible SUV. Introducing the Range Rover Evoque Convertible Concept at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show continues the exploration of new territory in the World of Land Rover.

The concept has been developed by Land Rover Design Director, Gerry McGovern and his team. McGovern said, "The Range Rover Evoque lends itself beautifully to the idea of a convertible. This study is not a traditional convertible design execution – instead we have worked with the balance of the Range Rover Evoque's lines to retain its distinctive shape and create something that is unique and, we believe, highly desirable."

The soft-top concept features a fully retractable premium roof system. An integrated Roll Over Protection System lets the top come down without relaxing safety concerns. This concept cleverly joins capability and versatility in a package that is unmistakably Land Rover. Key characteristics including a sports command driving position and all-terrain capability firmly link this study in design back to its hard-top heritage.

Classically, Land Rover has been about the best way to explore roads, trails and untracked surfaces of all kinds. Now exploration continues… upward.

Are you open to the possibility of a Range Rover Evoque Convertible?

Tip of the day: Blast floor mats with a hose

When washing your car, drag out the rubber or carpet floor mats and blast them with the hose. This will dislodge dirt particles that, if allowed to build up, will grind holes in your mats. Let the mats dry thoroughly in the sun before reinstalling them.

Tip of the day: Protect your leather interior

Land_rover_interior

Leather cars seats are durable and don’t require a lot of maintenance. After a few years, however, the seats can become soiled. Use a leather cleaner to remove dirt and stains. Then apply a leather protectant formulated for pigmented or top-coated grain leather (the leather used for most leather car upholstery). Protectants will resist stains and make the upholstery easier to clean in the future. Choose a protectant that includes conditioners to keep your leather supple.
