6 Signs You Need to Replace Your Spark Plugs

Spark plugs are an integral part of your vehicles motor as they provide the much needed spark that ignites the air and fuel mixture within the cylinders. This continuous ignition is what keeps your car moving on the road. Here are some tell-tale signs that it's time to change out your spark plugs!

 1. Engine has a rough idle.

Your engine idles when it is a stationary and in this position the engine normally produces around 1000rpm. The sound the engine gives off is constant and smooth but if your spark plugs aren’t performing as they should, your engine will produce a rough and jittery sound while producing larger vibrations through the car. Not having this checked can lead to costly damage being done.

2. Having trouble starting your car?

If your spark plugs don’t produce the spark needed to get the vehicle moving, then you’re going nowhere. It is also possible that faulty spark plugs are causing your battery to drain.

3. Your engine misfires.

When your engine misfires it causes the vehicle to halt for a fraction of a second and then continues it’s usual movement.

4. Engine surging.

When a vehicle sucks in more air than usual in the combustion process it can cause the vehicle to jerk and then slow down or continually start and stop, which means the vehicles engine is working inefficiently.

5. High fuel consumption.

If your spark plugs have deteriorated you’ll notice that your vehicles fuel economy can decrease by up to 30%

6. Lack of acceleration.

If your vehicle is accelerating poorly it is fairly easy to tell. It feels as if the vehicle doesn’t want to respond when you put your foot down, or it does but not instantly as you’ve become accustomed to.

Jaguar Land Rover Highlights How Technology And Engineering Will Drive Its Global Business Forward

At a media event on the eve of the Delhi Show, Dr Wolfgang Ziebart, Group Engineering Director, Jaguar Land Rover, shared his vision for technology and engineering.

Dr Ziebart explained how key global trends like the growth of the Megacity, an expanding and more affluent world population, as well as trends in connected consumer technologies will bring with it opportunities, as well as challenges for automotive businesses like Jaguar Land Rover.

Dr Ziebart said: "The cars Jaguar Land Rover will develop in the future will reflect a range of challenges and opportunities. We are going to deliver new models that are smarter, more connected and cleaner than ever before.

"With the sensors and computing power we are developing we will enhance the capability of the driver. For the first time we have the technology to realise the vision of achieving zero accidents. I'm confident that we are only a decade or two away from being able to avoid accidents completely.

"However, our customers tell us that any Jaguar Land Rover autonomous car solution in the future still needs to involve the emotions. Whether you are driving a Jaguar or a Land Rover you want an emotional connection and a thrilling drive - with the ability to drive autonomously when required. A smarter car should not be about taking away driving pleasure - it is about enhancing the driver experience. Our engineering team is working on this today."

Nacimiento-Ferusson Road!

Looking for a beautiful scenic drive to take your Land Rover on? Check out Nacimiento-Fergusson Road!

Nacimiento-Fergusson Road is the only road across the Santa Lucia Range in the Central Coast of California, connecting California State Route 1 and the Big Sur coast to U.S. Route 101 and the Salinas Valley. It is considered one of the best scenic drives in Central California due to its forests and ocean views.

The road starts on Highway 1 four miles south of Lucia, approximately 55 miles south of Carmel and 35 miles north of the Hearst San Simeon State Historical Monument, just at the south end of the Cabrillo Highway (Highway 1) bridge over Kirk Creek.

The road is well-paved and maintained over its length, but is winding and has precipitous drops at almost every turn. The eastern slope is heavily forested allowing few vistas.
